Nestled in the serene hills of Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, June Estate is a place where history, nature, and heritage come together to create a truly enchanting retreat. Originally known as Bhimtal Estate, it was primarily used as a summer retreat for British officials who sought respite from the sweltering heat of the Indian plains. The estate also included a thriving tea garden, remnants of which can still be found beneath the dense forest that has since reclaimed much of the land. The estate was later bought and managed by Colonel Bertram Owen Jones who had named it as Jones Estate (now corrupted to June Estate). This sprawling property traces its roots back to the 1840s and has been home to several notable personalities over the decades. With its rich colonial past, significant biodiversity, and reputation as a sanctuary for birds and butterflies, June Estate stands as a remarkable destination for travelers seeking an immersive heritage experience. Today, the Mountain Club Heritage Retreat offers visitors an opportunity to step back in time and relish the old-world charm of this estate while surrounded by nature's bounty.

"What a terrific place! Perfect for someone who want to ease themself from the feverish life of the city. Situated in the arms of the mountains, mountain club is a whole world in itself. The staff is amiable and the rooms are simply gorgeous. The only difficulty you'll have is to drive through a rough 1.5 km long road to reach there but once you do, it's just heaven. The food is delicious, the restaurant is small but eloquently decorated. (*whispers* there's a tree house too.) Overall, I love this place. Will totally recommend."
